I have been teaching for seven years-mostly math and some language arts. The math teaching included geometry, algebra 1, algebra 2, basic high school math and middle school math. One year my students had the highest improvement in standardized math test scores in the district, for the lower level students. My student test scores have always been high so I retained the scores. I tutored psychology for two years in college for a Buffalo State College program called SEEK, and received many compliments from the students. I am currently the Math Coach at a local Middle School. I have been in the educational field for thirteen years as a math teacher. I worked with children with language delays in group settings and also tutored children individually. I am currently in the process of obtaining my teaching certificate in science and working towards my masters degree.
I prefer to work with children who have learning disabilities and/or with a dislike for education. I find that my teaching style is interesting to this particular type of student. My teaching style is all about application and functionality. How do I apply it to real life situations, so that the student can better remember it. That is my first train of thought when presenting material. With math, the key to math is take it one step at a time.
