Teaching requires empathy for the learner's situation above all other things. This means looking at things from the student's perspective and communicating effectively with the student to determine where help is needed and how to provide it. Learning is most effective when the student is respected and is provided the appropriate means for that individual to discover and absorb the subject matter. For the last three years I instructed K-12 students in environmental science and outdoor recreation programs, as the executive director of a nonprofit educational partnership. At the University of Massachusetts I exceled in Math and Science classes. I orginally planned on being a Math major but chenged course after taking an Environmental policy class. As a law student, I have been committed to the public interest. I have focused my attenion on environmental issues. During law school, I worked weekends at the Save the Bay Exploration Center teaching childern and adults about marine life. Since I moved back to New Hampshire I have continued volenteering as a science educator at a local Science Center twice a week. I love educating people, adults and childern. I am a hand's on teacher and try to make learning as fun as possible, coming up with games and simplified learning techniques. I believe if you make learning fun and interesting any kid can excell.
