Experienced Educator Available To Tutor

I am patient yet firm. I expect students to be accountable for their own success; I want my students to become self-sufficient. With proper guidance and encouragement most students will succeed if not excel.
I taught high school English for three years. My students ranged from far below basic to advanced. My students consistently showed improvement in their standardized test scores and over 95% of my students passed the course. Also, Over 95% of my sophomore passed the CAHSEE. In addition to my high school experience, I have been tutoring adult learners for the past three years, becoming the program manager two years ago. In this roll, I administer assessments from which individual learning plans are developed for each student. I also recruit and train volunteer tutors to work with our students.

Individualizing English grammar, composition, and lit. instruction became a teaching strength during 12 years in secondary schools. Skills for ELLs were honed by nine years at a Japanese university. I tutored adults in my “Have English-Will Travel” company serving personal/business needs of Silicon Valley firms’ foreign nationals. Effectiveness with L1 and L2 speakers is augmented by detailed assessment and diagnosis of skills, with personalized remediation for desired proficiencies.
