For my bachelors of science degree, I studied Biomedical Sciences/Biochemical Pharmacology and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I was a primary teaching assistant in the university's dissection biology course and lab. Additionally, I mentored incoming pre-medical students academically and for career management and have taken various college level art courses. I have recently completed the requirements to earn a doctor of medicine degree (M.D.) from SUNY Buffalo and will graduate in April 2011. In college, I tutored kids K-5 on primarily their reading skills. However, I also asked them if they needed any help with any other subject and what material was covered. From this I would put together study outlines from their notes and textbook. This allowed me to know ahead of time what should be emphasized. Also, when teaching a biology field to a more mature individual, I find that reading up on the material actually emphasizes my passion for the field. There also have been times I have made up mnemonics for certain biology topics, whether it is a rhyme, story, or parody of a song. I find that it makes learning the material easier and more enjoyable. My friends always have enjoyed them as the mnemonics always can create a laugh.

As a training manager, I often taught classes to large groups of individuals on subjects such as statistics, Microsoft Office programs, and teamwork, problem solving and quality concepts. Further, as an engineer, I did a lot of one-on-one teaching of job instructions and job changes. I further informally taught other engineers how to perform different tasks in Word and Excel.
Although I am an engineer by education, I have often found myself in a teaching role of all groups of people. I have often been complimented for my tremendous patience and ability to work with others to teach them some new information or concept.
