I earned my mechanical engineering degree from The Ohio State University and worked as an engineer and a manager in a scientific field for over 20 years before starting my own business in information research. Throughout my life, I have naturally gravitated to a teacher/mentor role because of my ability to help children and adults learn new concepts. I have experience assisting children in math and science and in giving music lessons. As a parent of middle school students, I understand the importance of motivating students by using real world examples and providing hands-on experiences. I have an engineering background with a BS and Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. An engineering degree requires a significant background in math and science. While in college I had such a love for math that I took math classes as electives and became a math tutor for college math. My most recent experience is that of an Instructor in math and science. I convey to each student a never give up attitude and show confidence in their ability to understand the material. Each problem will be explained to the student and I will encourage every student to ask questions. After the student gains confidence in working problems together then I will have the student work a similar problem by themselves to confirm their level of understanding. After the student works the problem I will go over it and correct any mistakes in their work .
