My passion for the arts drives everything I do, from education to the practice of art. Being an academically trained artist has taught me the value of knowing the masters of art history and the importance of passing on the knowledge. Also, with art being hands-on craft, I strongly believe in “getting in there and getting your hands dirty”. Art is all about trying and seeing what works and it is my job to help the student find what works for them and to create a signature style.
While attending the University of Minnesota, I deepened my relationship with the visual arts. I extensively studied two-dimensional art in the areas of Sumi ink painting, watercolor, charcoal drawing, oil and powder pastel rendering, graphite sketching and printmaking; focusing on intaglio, aluminum and stone lithography. Hello! I graduated from the College of St. Catherine and Macalester College (Major course work completed and studied at Macalester College), two selective colleges within the small private college system in the Twin Cities area. I not only experienced varying styles of education, but I also obtained a high quality education that is applicable to many settings, points of view, interpersonal and cultural dynamics and personalities.
