More About This Tutor...

While attending the University of Minnesota, I deepened my relationship with the visual arts. I extensively studied two-dimensional art in the areas of Sumi ink painting, watercolor, charcoal drawing, oil and powder pastel rendering, graphite sketching and printmaking; focusing on intaglio, aluminum and stone lithography. Though I have little experience teaching or tutoring in visual art, I do have teaching experience in dance, skin-care and color cosmetics. My past teaching experience is directly applicable to the teaching of studio art and will be an asset when teaching young students.
My passion for the arts drives everything I do, from education to the practice of art. I strive to enhance the whole child. I believe in drawing out a child's individual and natural abilities to build a range of skills and assets. Through this approach, I find the child understands learning as a life skill that is applicable to life's issues and obstacles, and strives to meet goals with an adjusted love of learning. I greatly enjoy teaching children at all levels. Through a variety of approaches and encouraging persistence, I believe children can gain knowledge of and proficiency in all subjects. A multi-disciplinary approach ensures a child's growth has both depth and breadth. I aim to teach in a way that develops the intellect and cultivates the character of my students so that they become critical and virtuous members of and contributors to society.
I became interested in tutoring during my three years of graduate study at Princeton Theological Seminary. Studying theology in my undergraduate and graduate work required me to invest strongly in multiple subjects such as history, philosophy, languages, politics and literature. This equipped me to tutor multiple subjects at various levels.
