A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in a teaching approach that takes into consideration each child's unique culture. Not only is culturally appropriate teaching beneficial, it's necessary! I plan to implement interactive learning and integrate curriculum. In doing so, I am providing the student with possible ways to connect previous knowledge with the new content they are learning. My bachelor's degree from University of Missouri-Columbia is in Political Science. I also minored in Art History. I have done extensive research in each of these areas and feel competent to teach or tutor either. In 2005 I joined the U.S. Peace Corps as a TEFL teacher. I taught English to Mongolian students from elementary school to adults in both classroom and individual settings for two years. Other areas I have in-depth knowledge in are English Literature, Poetry, Philosophy and Psychology.
