Results-driven tutor seeking to share my love of knowledge!

I graduated high school with a full International Baccalaureate Program Diploma, and a 4.53 weighted GPA. I then went on to receive a full ride scholarship to Santa Clara University for Computer Engineering, where I took part in the University's Honors Program. There I completed 3 years of study in computer science, classical languages, and Spanish, before deciding to change directions and gain real-world experience. After a brief leave of absence, I entered Licensing Education Courses for the field of Insurance, passed the License Exam, and went to work as the Vice President of Marketing for Financial and Insurance Services, an independent insurance brokerage in Fresno, CA. Feeling the urge to once again to change directions, I am taking took time to pursue my passion for poetry, competing in several contests and publishing an anthology of poetry on Amazon (“Automatic Phantom”). People are always surprised when they find out I'm a math nerd. I'm outgoing, I like to joke and I play sports. But believe it or not, I actually do enjoy math and this is one of the biggest reasons for my success as a tutor/teacher. I don't fake my enthusiasm and this helps engage students. I like to think of myself as fun and I like to make a joke here and there. I believe that a lot of times, less is more when it comes to teaching math. I try to do as little leading as possible when helping students solve problems so that they will be best equipped in the future to solve on their own. I have always enjoyed teaching and I love sharing success with others.
I graduated Magna Cum Laude from USC with a degree in Business and have spent six years as an actuary working in a professional and math-oriented field for major firms (Blue Shield and Mercer). I have a strong backgrou ... read more

I enjoy working with children. My theory of teaching is using the multiple intelligence theory. I believe that all children have the capacity to learn but in their own way. I like to incoporate different styles of learning in a lesson. I also like to incorporate hands on activities, because I believe that doing is learning.
I have been working with children from K-12 grade since 2001. I was part of the Math Academy in 2002. I have been subsituting in grades K-8 since 2009. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy tutoring. It allows me to pass on my knowledge, to exercise my communication skills, and to help my fellow college students. And, most of all, it has taught me to be patient and understanding. I find teaching and helping students to be rewarding. Furthermore, I have experiences of working with third grade students for a semester. I enjoy being with children and help them understand sciences.
My name is Qiqi Peng. I am a current graduate of University of California, Berkeley and a past graduate of Modesto Junior College. I just earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry in May 2009 at UC Berkeley. I also had an Associate of Art degree in Chemistry and Behavioral & Social Science in Aug 2007 at Modesto Junior College. From Feb 2006 to Aug 2007, I worked at the tutoring center of Modesto Junior College as a math/chemistry tutor.

I strive to include various learning styles when working with children. Some students learn best by listening or writing, while others need movement or tactile experiences to help in comprehension. I believe in keeping students engaged at all times, to minimize wasted time. Every child has potential. A teacher just has to know how to reach each child, and that happens when the students builds trust with the teacher.
I have taught music in public education for the last 15 years. I have been involved in church music ministry for over 25 years, and currently am the church pianist in Stockton, Ca. I love working with children of all ages. Math is my second love and I almost majored in math instead of music. Math was always easy for me in school. Although I don't enjoy writing, I am very strong in written English and enjoy proofreading papers.
