The most rewarding moment in my teaching career involved Emily, a college student who suffered an injury, leaving her with severe short term memory problems. She had great difficulty learning new math concepts. We could work on the same, problem over and over again and she wouldn’t remember completing it once, let alone a dozen times. I learned that word-for-word repetition was the best way to move ideas from Emily’s short term memory to her long term memory. I am a firm believer in that every child can succeed in whatever they strive for if they are given proper instruction. Even difficult learners can succeed if the proper teaching methods are employed. Different students have different stimuli that they respond to. There is no one cookie cutter mold for teaching. After all, each student is an individual and responds in their own way. A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very attentive person who reaches children where they are with respect to learning. I prefer to differentiate instruction based on a child's learning style, comprehension level, and prior knowledge. I am a very positive, motivational person who gives lots of positive reinforcements during the learning process.
Throughout my undergraduate years, I knew that educating youth was something I was very passionate about so I made sure to not ignore my passion. I completed a minor in Education including such courses as: Classroom Reading, Evaluation and Measurement in Education, Core Classroom Management Strategies, Intro to Special Education, and Young Adolescence. Also, I have had several hands-on experiences including, an opportunity to tutor students one-on-one at an elementary school, and to serve as a classroom assistant at both an elementary and middle school.
