A Little Bit About Me...

I have an assignment to complete over the summer regarding a teaching commitment I made at a recent teaching 'camp' I attended in southern California. My objective is to provide real world, actual situation examples of algebra, geometry, and calculus problems. I am doing this so that in addition to the problem solving and critical thinking skills acquired in learning mathematics topics students will be able to see the actual relevance of the study area. This spring I used the example of the oil leak in the gulf to illustrate volume and area ideas to beginning geometry students. In the algebra class at the same school I used compound interest rate calculations as a vehicle to understand exponents and the distributive property.

UCLA provided me the occasion to experience a diverse, driven, and excellent learning environment, where I obtained a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics, which allows me to expand my knowledge in math and science. In addition, I also was an exchange student in University of Hong Kong, and joined a summer session in Nagoya University in Japan. These experiences let me interact with people from various backgrounds, and learn how communicate with people with different cultures and even languages barriers. I started to lead a study group for AP Physics C and Calculus BC during my senior year of high school.
