A Little Bit About Me...

First, and foremost, I believe that effective learning is both fun and relevant. I have always been able to make a game of it and to make it both interesting and challenging to others. My goal is never to teach them a rote solution, but to challenge them to think about the concepts and have then tell me the answers. This builds their confidence and solidifies their learning experience. I find that if they understand how a concept was derived in the first place, they seldom forget that story and therefore have learned something that will stay with them for a live time. I prefer to use the Socratic Method and draw the information from my students. Again, I think it is best if they THINK rather than learn. Over time I see all my students (and all our five daughters) have responded well to this approach.

I received my B.S. in physics and went on to work at a Community College tutoring math. I enjoyed this work immensely and received excellent reviews from the students. While working at the college I also tutored middle school and high school students privately. In High School I took a class on Society and the Child which involved tutoring english and math two days a week for a fourth grade class. I plan on returning to school in 2010 to obtain a Masters in Secondary Educaton, with my focus on Math and Science Education.
I have found that there is nothing so rewarding as that moment when a subject 'clicks' for a student. By staying positive and adaptive I believe it is possible to guide students to finding solutions on their own. A Little Bit About Me...

I certainly strive for having my students to understand the concept of the subject, rather than memorizing every step of a given process. Understanding the basics will give you the tools to solve or analyze a problem for a possible solution and that will lead you to more successful results.
I had the opportunity of tutoring college algebra and basics of statistics during 2003 and 2004 while pursuing my Master of Business Administration degree at Bellevue University in Bellevue, Nebraska. Also had the opportunity of being teacher assistant for geometry during my Junior year while taking my bachelor degree. Currently I manage a retail store for a Fortune 100 company and I just finished a concentration on Finances to add to my MBA degree.
