The most important thing about my teaching style is that I believe every child can achieve academic excellence and can be interested in learning. I believe that it is up to me, as a teacher or a tutor, to engage the student(s). A huge part of this is being very transparent about where the student starts, what our goals are for where they are going, and how they are doing along the way. My teaching style is a very flexible style. I understand that everyone has a different method for learning and I have to adapt in order for the student to learn. Since I've mostly dealt with music for teaching experience, I'll refer to that area of expertise to illustrate my methods. I usually start off with ear training exercises because as a musician this is a must have skill. Then we go over basic aspects of music such as rhythm or basic chords. Eventually, after enough has been learned, I make the class more challenging and try to get the student to think in many different ways and allow them to be flexible with their minds as well.
