A Little Bit About Me...

As I suffered through my younger years with Attention Deficit Disorder, I feel that it is extremely important to appeal to almost all of the senses when teaching. As for myself, I am definitely a visual learner, so I feel that visual aids are important. I am a big fan of hand outs in full color. You will often find me drawing a picture on the board. I feel it is important to hear it and see it, and if you can, touch it. Another important teaching style I implement, is watching my students and making sure they know how to do it. Going around and walking each student through the process and asking them to do what I did really confirms that the student understands what I have taught them.

A Little Bit About Me...

Upon graduating from college, I began teaching as a music teacher for one year and then a middle school band director for three years in Talladega, Alabama. Upon moving to Georgia in 1977, I began teaching music and third grade classes in a primary school in Villa Rica, Georgia. I taught school, worked with the High School band and taught piano lessons for several years. I went back to college and received a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. I continued to teach both publically and privately as a teacher, a tutor and music teacher. I continued my education to include Educational Leadership and I became and Assistant Principal at the same primary school where I had been teaching. I continued there until 1993. I am a life long learner of many subjects including but not limited to English, mathematics, sciences & technology, and interpersonal communication. While my degree is in Religious studies, which gave me strong language and grammatical skills. I am driven by an insatiable curiosity to learn about many subjects. I spent much of my free time in college tutoring peers as well as my professors' children. I also continue to tutor my relatives who are local to Atlanta.
