I have been working with preschool to high school age students since 2004. I pursued higher education to the Ph.D. level, most of my experience is based in research but I had the great pleasure of working with students privately and in the University environment. As a private tutor I taught Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology to high school students, helping them to succeed in their studies. In the university environment, I was in charge of training undergraduate and graduate students in the required laboratory skills, teaching them also the basic concepts of Biology and Chemistry needed to perform the protocols. My experience in teaching is broad and varied. I have taught medical students, other physicians, technologists, as well as teaching at military facilities. In additiom, I have two school age children myself and I believe that I am their primary teacher. This varied teaching experience allows me to tailor my teaching methods to the students and has allowed me to gain a great fund of knowledge. I believe that learning is best achieved in a comfortable, nothreatening enviroment. I prefer to work one on one with a single student, I do my very best to make my student feel comfortable and ready to learn. I learn what the student likes; music, sports, movies, I use these things to relate to the student and then i'm able to relate the learning material to the students favorite things which I think helps them to be more receptive. I began tutoring while in high school, as a junior and senior I would spend 2-3 afternoons a week at the Middle School helping the learning support classes write book reports. While in college at Slippery Rock University, I put up flyers around campus and worked as an independent tutor for five dollars an hour aiding my fellow students finish their final papers at the end of each semester.
