My teaching philosophy is to get students to think about science as a process, and to individualize their learning experiences. I prompt them to “why” and “how” questions at every stage.
Progressing through graduate school and working as a undergraduate student demonstrator allowed me to define learning as a personal process of growth. Being able to ask questions and actually attempt to answer those questions was extremely motivating. Involving and motivating students presents its challenges, but my goal of individualizing learning creates an open and comfortable environment where students can feel free to ask questions, make mistakes, and challenge themselves. It is by breaking down the barriers to learning that students can face their own misconceptions.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience in tutoring, substitute teaching, and being an elementary classroom teacher for over one year, my teaching experiences have helped me to instruct students in their learning endeavors. Also, through my love for writing and working on a book along with having an appetite for reading, these additional experiences have also helped me in instructing students in learning. Also I volunteered as a tutor in my local community and developing a summer reading program for our local library.
In order to reach all students, a teacher must use a variety of teaching techniques to meet the various learning styles of the students and must therefore be both flexible and approachable. Teachers should work more as an aid or guide that facilitate the learning process, rather than as omnipotent instructors who attempt to force knowledge into the minds of their students. A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children. I believe that children tend to learn best through repetition and making the experience fun. I like to work with flashcards and other such methods. If you take the time with a child they will eventually pick up on what you are trying to teach them. However, there are methods such as acronyms that can be used as well.

Most lessons can be taught in various styles but teachers are often faced with a curriculum guideline that they must follow. Often they do not have time to reteach the lesson and students begin to fall behind. With encouragement, guidance, and a new approach, many students can not only "catch up" but also stay succesful in that class.
I have been employed by the Cambria Heights School District for 14 years as a Title 1 educator. I currently am involved in curriculum math and reading. My job mainly deals with helping students achieve success by developing learning skills that fit the individual needs of specific students and adapting regular classroom instruction to fit those needs.

I my experience in learning and teaching anatomy, which revolves around learning concepts as well as brute memorization, each student, has learned in his or her own unique way. Because of this I feel it is hard to describe my "teaching style." One aspect of teaching that I feel I am very successful in understands each students learning style and being able to adapt to it. I consider myself a very patient and understanding person and never feel that I place "pressure" on students. I personally believe that a person learns better if they are in a comfortable situation.
I began my teaching experience at Ohio University where I was offered a position as an anatomy TA due to my success in the course. During this time I was required to make sure that 30+ students had a clear understanding of both lecture material and the lab material which included complete cat dissection. After I r ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been very successful in academics throughout my education. I was valedictorian of my high school, and I received the top honors in English, French, and Accounting. I also maintained a 4.0 average throughout my college education.
I love working with children of all ages and abilities and helping them with academics. I don't believe I have a specific teaching style. I know that I have to be flexible and creative with each student. Everyone learns differently, and I feel it is my obligation to find what works for each child. I do belive in providing hands on and real life scenarios when teaching.

I usually follow the curriculum assigned. But I employ the socratic method as well as questioning each fact I teach. I also tie in clinical correlations to make it more interesting. I have found my students repond well to me and like me as a professor and I spend some time tutoring my students at CCAC (Community Colleghe of Allegheny County).
I have always been raised as a stellar student. The focus on education in my parents home was considered the only choice. I graduated top 10% of my high school class and went onto medical school overseas as I had moved back to Pakistan my native country. I than returned to the USA and passed the hardest test on the planet which is the ECFMG equivalency exams for doctors. I went into medical research after that and than teaching. As an undergraduate I formally tutored fellow students in several subjects, including biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics (from basic algebra to calculus). As a graduate student, I mentored several undergraduate students in the laboratory. Some of these experiences culminated in presentations of data at national and international scientific conferences. This trend continued when I became a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard, where undergraduates spent a summer in the laboratory learning about scientific exploration. During the past year I taught an undergraduate course (Brain and Behavior) at the University of Pittsburgh, which was a very rewarding experience. I look forward to the opportunity to help others achieve what they may have thought impossible, and providing them with the sense of confidence that comes from mastering material.
