Motivated to help struggling students find love of learning

I have over 15 semesters of college courses most in the sciences. I find math and science to come easy to me if I am taught it in the right way and I would love to share that with struggling students out there. I have had experience in big and small schools, accelerated programs as well as normal classrooms so I have been exposed to a variety of learning environments.
I love to teach and coach and think it is important to understand that everyone learns and grasps concepts in different ways. I do not have a specific teaching style other than positive because each child requires their own approach.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects!

My teaching style is very individualized based on the needs of the student. Some students need frequent breaks to be able to focus in for 15-20 min at a time while others can stay engaged for an entire hour.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Senior in High School I spent a semester in Mettmann, Germany. During my stay I helped my host mom, who was also the head English teacher at the school I attended. I assisted her teach 6th and 7th graders and had the opportunity to head the classes on multiple occasions. She also volunteered to teach English to elderly citizens once a week, which I also filled in for her when she had schedule conflicts. It was a terrific experience which demanded constant adaptation and patience. After finishing up 4 years of German from Ames High School, I began my studies at ISU. I took 2 or 3 German classes every semester. Classes varied from early 1900's literature to German films.
I enjoy a very hands-on approach to teaching where students remain attentive through an energetic and lively approach.

A Little Bit About Me...

I truly enjoy teaching children and I know for a fact that each child learns at a different rate as well as a different way. I am sure I am able to accommodate all of these ways. It is up to the adults to teach children the productiveness of today. I believe that it is up to people like myself to do such a thing. I do believe that every child can and will meet their potential if were are to give them the correct learning experience. A Little Bit About Me...

By far, the biggest issue I have found with students with difficulty learning mathematics or the sciences is that there is a lack of motivation to learn, primarily because they do not understand the implications of the knowledge in front of them. Because I have studied physics, mathematics, and completed the pre-medicine curriculum at my university, I am brimming with knowledge of these applications. Once my students have gained an understand of all the cool stuff we can do with knowledge in these avenues, they tend to absorb concepts much more readily. I have also found that my general excitement for the subjects I am teaching rubs off on my pupils.

I really enjoy getting people of all ages to learn. My day job is with Easter Seals where I work with all ages and disabilities. With both Easter Seals and tutoring, I found that it requires a wide variety of approaches to get my clients to learn. I have learned a lot of patience and creativity in this time. A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating from college, I have been instructing professionals and employees in safety behavior and safety management processes. I have learned extensive grammatical skills in the military, during my assignment as an inspector on the Inspector General (IG) team. I performed proof reading and report writing for two years. My parents were elementary and algebra teachers. There were numerous occasions I assisted them with correcting tests during my high school years.
