A Little Bit About Me...

I have led reading groups and Language Arts classes. I have taught music lessons to a variety of ages and I have taught Music Theory and History at the collegiate level. My mother has been a teacher for 35 years and I have always enjoyed helping her in the classroom. I have a Master of Music and Professional Artist Certificate from the North Carolina School of the Arts.
Identifying a person’s learning style is the key to successful comprehension of a given subject matter. My teaching style involves recognizing concepts that the person does find interesting to help them relate to and understand what they are trying to learn. I am patient and diligent, and I will help you understand and enjoy the subject.

I earned my BS in Biology at a liberal arts school. My education has given me a scientific training that is bolstered with an in depth knowledge of the humanities. Through my education and personal interests I have studied music, poetry, literature, math and natural history. I have striven to integrate these arts with my scientific background. My interests and education have given me extensive training in both math and english; including practice in scientific writing (lab reports and grant writing) and artistic writing (poetry, poetry analyses, and music analyses.
As a liberal arts student, I was taught to pursue the bridge between science and understanding. My education has fostered in me an appreciation of learning, and a belief that comprehension is attainable through multiple avenues.
