I am a Creativity Consultant and use a wide variety of teaching styles in my classes and individual sessions, including lectures, demonstrations, mind mapping, freeflow writing, focusing, and intuitive problem solving. I am a dynamic teacher who has a gift for inspiring, empowering and motivating children of all ages.
For 26 years, I have presented my writing and expressive arts classes in California, Washington State and North Carolina. I have been a substitute teacher and tutor in Language Arts, biological sciences, social sciences, math, mind mapping and study skills. I have offered staff presentations for teachers in whole brain learning, the seven intelligences and creative thinking. As a liberal arts student, I was taught to pursue the bridge between science and understanding. My education has fostered in me an appreciation of learning, and a belief that comprehension is attainable through multiple avenues. If a student struggles by one avenue, then I believe it is my job to pave another. A student must be able to not only know an answer, but also understand how they themselves got to that answer. I strive to nurture a love of learning, and try to pass on that passion. I have ADHD and dyslexia, and as such have an understanding of the difficulties that a student can have when trying to learn. For some students, it is not enough to merely teach them, but they must be taught how to teach themselves.
