A Little Bit About Me...

One of the most important task in tutoring is building up a students self confidence. Some students have a learning barrier due to their lack of confidence in a given subject, so I believe a part of a tutors job is to build the confidence of a student, allowing them to believe they are able to do whatever they put their mind to. I use hands on and visual learning techniques which involves draw pictures, using surrounding objects or using examples students can readily relate to. My main goal is to make it FUN. Once a student finds a subject fun they usually put forth the effort to progress in the program. I ask a lot of questions to get the students thinking. I believe in teaching young people and the adults I have worked with to think critically fist. Then I work with them on being able to articulate and write their ideas down...subject matter follows naturally if they have the confidence and can just think for themselves not just spit back facts and what others want to hear. Currently I am employed part time at Oakley Elementary as a Title I Reading Assistant.During my days at Oakley, I tutor small groups in reading.I recently graduated from Kent State University in December of 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
