Spanish is one of my top subjects!

I was Born in New York and raised in Puerto Rico and have spoken English and spanish since I was young. I am currently an officer in the Army, but teaching and Spanish are my passion. I have a BA in Spanish Education, I don't have a certification because I was move to a military base as soon I graduate. Right now I'm working on my Master Degree Online, based on Spanish Curriculum. I have about 3 years of experience giving Spanish tutoring to students of different ages. Looking forward to teach and learn at the same time.
My teaching style depends on the student and the resources we have. I always start from the easiest, until we get to the complicated.

I believe in completing an individual needs assessment and designing a study approach around that assessment. I believe in constant reinforcement and reassessment. I also believe it is useful to utilize as many and as varied forms of instruction as possible (written, audio-visual, demonstration, etc.) to solidify a concept. Promoting thorough understanding rather than route memory and recognition skills is paramount.
Over the years (as undergrad and graduate), I have tutored middle school and elementary age students in various subjects. I have also been a resource for undergrad and graduate health science students while serving as a graduate assistant (public health master's program). While serving in the Army, I was assigned to translate and interpret from Spanish to English for foreign students joining the Army. I translated speeches for VIP Commanders visits so that way they would understand the speech as well on every event. I tutor kids in the neighborhood in a variety of subjects. I first try to find out what is the issue the student has, and then develop a learning strategy appropriate for the student.
I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. I am available to help your child find academic success.
