I use a combined demonstration and discussion style for lecture and introduction of topics to be studied. Labs are a demonstration followed by a monitored hands-on work experience. I integrate reading and computational skills into my subject matter and use contemporary internet sources to supplement all content items. Practice assignments are designed as reinforcers for the most important skills and topics of the lesson. Homework is for quality, not for quantity. Testing is always followed by analysis and reinforced correctives. Good tests become learning tools. Upon receiving my BA, I began a 26-year journey in high school and college education. The reason I became a teacher was to transfer my love of music to my students and also to see the joy of their successes. There is nothing like seeing the smile of success on a students face. I care greatly for all students that I have taught and will teach. I first started to study music when I was 11 years old. I grew a love for the clarinet and played for many years in middle school and high school. In college, I majored in clarinet and also studied all wind/percussion instruments as well as piano. I obtained my BA instrumental teaching degree (K-12) through Western Carolina University in June of 2003. Through the years, I have had the privilage and pleasure of teaching band in a classroom setting, marching band, and private lessons.

I graduated with a Bachelors degree in English from the University of South Carolina. Throughout my studies, I explored various literature and produced many pieces of writing, both analysis and creative. After moving back to Atlanta, I was a Reading and Writing teacher at a successful education center in Marietta, Georgia. While being an instructor at the tutoring center, I had the opportunity to teach children of all ages. My role at the tutoring center led me to my pursuit of a M.A.T. in Secondary English at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. I will graduate from Mercer in December 2009.
