A Little Bit About Me...

As an education student, I saw many opportunities in that field. I also saw the diversity of learners, and the need for a diversity in the way education is approached. I began to challenge myself by removing limitations like language, and searching for alternative techniques to teaching students of different cultural, socioeconomic, religious and behavioral backgrounds. Through my efforts, I found that to teach is to learn twice over, and that teaching can be beneficial for the student as well as the educator. I fell in love with education, and will never look back!

More About This Tutor...

My approach to tutoring is not simply to regurgitate what the teacher has already said in the classroom. Students need to have tried to solve the problems on their own before I help them to get the most value from their experience with me. It does little good to the student for me to guide them entirely through each problem with out them first trying to figure it out on their own. First, this helps one to develop problem solving skills which is different from knowing the subject matter. Second, it allows me to adjust the problem solving techniques to that particular student.
While in graduate school at the University of Connecticut, I was a teaching assistant for a chemical engineering course on polymers as well as freshman chemistry. I am fortunate to have multiple intelligence. Since an early age, I have been motivated to increase my knowledge base and skill levels. My desires have motivated me to earn a double majored BS in agriculture, an applied science, and a MS in biology. I taught laboratory classes while I was a student.
