My teaching style is learner-centered, constructivist, and practical. I believe that a teacher must get to know her students on a personal level to facilitate the best learning. By ascertaining a student’s current knowledge and beliefs about a particular subject, I am able to help students advance to their fullest potential. If students understand the applicability of a concept or skill, they are much more likely to be engaged in learning it. Thus, I give students as much “real-world” practice as possible, so they can see the value in the subject they are learning. I am most able to tutor students in all aspects of English and language arts, but I can also tutor in the social sciences like history, psychology, sociology, and geography. I have a great deal of experience in educating students. I have earned my BA from Northern Illinois University in Communications, and I also have earned my MAT from Rockford College in Education. I also work locally with high school students at my church. In addition, I have worked at Writing Centers at several institutions.
