Elementary Vocabulary is one of my top subjects!

I graduated from UVA in 2012 with a BA in Drama and a Master of Teaching in Elementary Education. I have been volunteering and tutoring younger children since I was 15 and love to teach. Summer Reading/English Tutor

Fun! I try my best to make tutoring sessions interactive and engaging so that kids enjoy learning. I pick topics, books, vocabulary that is interesting to the student, when possible.
I tutored two boys ages 6 and 9 in the areas of reading and spelling. I have been tutoring them on and off during the school year for the past 2 years. I also teach English classes once a week during the school year at the Immigration Center of America (ICA) in Farmville, VA during the school year. I'm here to help!

I have a relaxed, stress-free teaching style, while staying on task and topic. I make sure the pupils really understand the material by breaking things down to the basics, and reviewing the foundations. After reviewing and application of the concepts, I have my students switch roles and "teach" me the material. I believe if you can explain the material to someone else, you really understand it.
I double-majored in biology in chemistry in undergrad, so the field of science and medicine is my first love and my strength.
