My belief is in the child. I am extremely patient and loving. The child sets the pace at which we learn and we would not move on to the next subject until the child completely understands the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to encourage and support my students. Many students don’t want to learn or do not feel they can succeed. When a student is positive and feels that sense of pride; he will open himself up more to the idea of learning. Secondly, I will always do readings and visuals to stimulate both areas of the brain to ensure it is absorbed. I also believe in repetition of information once a student comprehends what has been learned. Lastly, I like to be consistent. I have always kept the learning styles very similar. I also explain to the student what exactly is expected of him and how I will do things so he will be fully aware. This way we are on the same page as to what the teaching session will entail.
I have always had a passion for education, whether it is teaching youth or adults. I have gained about 3 additional years of teaching and now am working in a higher education setting. I ... read more

After home educating my 4 children for 17 years, I returned to school to complete an AA degree in liberal arts and a BA degree in sociology. I now work as a math teacher working with children who range in age from 9-17 and have special needs.
I never give up on a child or an adult. I recently tutored a law enforcement official to help him understand and pass algebra. He didn't think anyone could help him. The schools told me my son would never learn to read or write. He is my only child out of four who reads lengthy books for pleasure. Everyone has a different style of learning. My teaching methods I alter to suit those needs. I spent three years trying to help my dyslexic son learn to read one sentence. I have patience and I love helping people. I a ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I earned my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. During college, I tutored a 3rd grade student for one year. Since then, I taught 2nd grade at Heathrow Elementary. I have both tutoring experience and classroom experience. I have volunteered with many different grade levels from Pre-K through 5.
I have always wanted to be a teacher, ever since I was in Kindergarten. Every year I would "take notes" from my classroom teacher and think to myself, "I could do that in my classroom." I have a passion for teaching children. When I see that light bulb hovering above their head, it really makes all the hard work worth it. I am persistent, yet calm during teaching. I stick to the procedures, and let the student find the right path to discovery. I believe that each child wants to learn and grow; they only need to be shown the path to ac ... read more

I have worked in the field of education all my life. Currently I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, while teaching courses at a private college. I have tutored college level students in reading and writing skills, but more recently I tutor elementary level students ie. 1st grade. Specifically, I have had a lot of experience with students with learning disabilities. I have also worked in the public schools as well with students with behavioral problems. I enjoy helping students meet their academic goals.
I truly believe that students can learn given the proper conditions. Some students learn slower than others so it is important to provide them with the strategies to ensure better chances of success. I try to implement student success strategies throughout any course I teach. For example, showing students how to be organized is a key factor for success. In ... read more

I don't just want to regurgitate information to a student; I want them to learn. I allow them to try to complete and assignment, and if they ask questions, I think of the child's learning style. How they learn affects how I explain it to them or how I show them. If they are having trouble understanding, i will model their question and answer it correctly. I will ten ask them the differences between the two. I am very patient, easygoing, and I give praise often.
I graduated with my BS in CSD and am now going for my Master's. I have worked with children of all ages specifically in literacy, writing, and speech. I am comfortable teaching up to and including Algebra, any history, and elementary school science.
