I fell that once I get back into communicating normally I will fell comfortable clicking the Experienced or Expert Proficiency box.

There are many teaching styles and I fell that everyone learns differently. I like to find out how someone learns so that I can alter and adjust my teaching style so that everyone can learn quickly and retain an interest in the subject.

Hello, I have been a teacher in central Florida for 6 years. I have always taught at the middle school leve, although my student teaching was done at the High school level. Prior to becoming a teacher I served 5 years in the U.S. Navy. I have also worked with Juinor Acheivement and the Boys and Girls club of America.
My belief is in the child. I am extremely patient and loving. The child sets the pace at which we learn and we would not move on to the next subject until the child completely understands the material.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and helping students learn. I understand that students all learn differently and some may have more difficulty learning certain things. I can relate to many of these students as I struggled in math for a long time. I think this is something that helps me with my teaching because I am able to relate to the students on a different level. I am patient and easy going and understanding. I want students to learn and enjoy learning. The smiles on their faces when they finally get something is priceless and makes me smile as well.
As a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a degree in Elementary Education I have been given many opportunities to work with students of all ages. My teaching style addresses each student as an individual with unique abilities and strengths. I have worked in the field of education all my life. Currently I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, while teaching courses at a private college. I have tutored college level students in reading and writing skills, but more recently I tutor elementary level students ie. 1st grade. Specifically, I have had a lot of experience with students with learning disabilities. I have also worked in the public schools as well with students with behavioral problems. I enjoy helping students meet their academic goals.
I truly believe that students can learn given the proper conditions. Some students learn slower than others so it is important to provide them with the strategies to ensure better chances of success. I try to implement student success strategies throughout any course I teach. For example, showing students how to be organized is a key factor for success. In ... read more

I am a patient and encouraging teacher and believe that all children can learn. I feel it is important to meet children where they are at and grow them to reach their full potential. Since all students learn differently, I believe it is important to be flexible in my teaching methods. If a student is not understanding a concept, it is my job to find new ways to teach that concept until I find a way that clicks for that student. I feel I am especially skilled at taking large abstract concepts such as writing an essay, and breaking it down into small concrete components that any student can follow and learn. Lastly, I feel that organization and study skills play a large role in the academic success of students and must be incorporated into any academic plan for success.

Since then, I taught 2nd grade at Heathrow Elementary. I have both tutoring experience and classroom experience. I have volunteered with many different grade levels from Pre-K through 5.
I have always wanted to be a teacher, ever since I was in Kindergarten. Every year I would "take notes" from my classroom teacher and think to myself, "I could do that in my classroom." I have a passion for teaching children. When I see that light bulb hovering above their head, it really makes all the hard work worth it. I am persistent, yet calm during teaching. I stick to the procedures, and let the student find the right path to discovery. I believe that each child wants to learn and grow; they only need to be shown the path to ac ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I teach by example, by first modeling my expectations or skill. Then letting the students model the skill with me. Then, I allow the students time to practice the skill. I believe the proper term is scaffolding. I am a direct teacher there is no misunderstanding in the messages or instruction that I convey. I am also a good listener and understand when a student is struggling. I have effectively taught reading to students and have brought up their ORF scores, comprehension scores, and vocabulary scores in a nine week period. I have done this with hard work, persistence, and determination on both my part and the students part.
I have worked as support staff for six years. This November I passed my state boards and received my 5 year professional teaching license in ESE K-12 education. This past April I passed my NCLB qualifications for Elementary Education K-6. I am currently purs ... read more

While earning my degree in physics at the University of Central Florida I found that tutoring was an excellent experience for both my students and me. I have tutored many different subjects including math(from algebra to differential equations), astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology. I taught middle school students through presentations of physics in films. I also aided my student in their research papers and power point presentations as I feel comprehension and writing skills are an important part of science. I truly enjoyed doing this and hope to continue tutoring and teaching.
