Hello, my name is Lauren and I absolutely love tutoring! I have tutored since I was in high school (about 5 years of experience total)and more recently have worked as a Peer Tutor at Westminster College, as well as teaching private voice and piano lessons. As a biology major, I'm most experienced in science and math related areas, particularly general biology, general chemistry, statistics, algebra, and geometry. I am also very qualified to tutor ACT and SAT test prep, as I scored extremely high in all areas of the two tests, earning a 34 on the ACT and a 2190 on the SAT. Every child has a different learning style and it's the duty of the teacher to discover that way and pursue the methods that will help that child. Encouragement is the best teacher and confidence is the foundation of success. I know what helped me succeed as a young student and I believe I can provide that for students on a one on one basis. I know how to believe in kids and how to develop that belief in themselves.
As a graduate and undergraduate student I taught multiple courses in both landscape design and architectural construction. I've proven myself as a high performer in Academia due to a strong work ethic where I graduated magna cum laude from Notre Dame. I had to decline an offer to pursue a PhD at the University of Cambridge in the UK due to a lack of funds.

I taught in a bi-lingual charter school and worked with students from many diverse ethnic backgrounds I also substituted in my off-track time for ESL instructors and Special-Ed students with learning disabilities. Each year I taught I attended special seminars on reading development and literature.
I enjoy teaching and working with children of all ages. I received an award for classroom management, and work well with students who are learning English as a second language. I believe all children have the potential to excel if given the opportunity. I believe that attitude and approach create the climate in a classroom.
