Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I passed the Praxis for both of those subjects spring of 2010. I was not able to get a full time teaching position this year. I went back to working for myself but would love to tutor. I have tutored for 3 years while I worked for Tryon Elementary school. I had great success with the students I worked with, in particular concerning math. I am very qualified to work in a tutoring capacity.
I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. I believe that all children and adults have the capability with learning any subject area, especially music. Music can control all emotions and enables children and adults to express themselves. I am neither an easy teacher nor a hard one because I have some kind of expectations for each student (depending on their level), which they always meet for me. I push my students to become the best they can be without putting too much stress in their practice time. I have three years of experience working with students with special needs in the classroom. I also have personal experience helping those with special needs. My younger sister has a server intellectual disability, which was the driving force motivating me to enter the field of education, more specifically, special education.
