A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in good classroom management and organized lesson plans. I set appropriate boundaries and expect the students to follow the rules that are set before them. That being said I try to make the learning as fun as possible but organized. I also try to bring in anything that they are interested in to make them enjoy the subject they are learning. If I can find an example in life they can relate to that will help them learn something I will find it and bring it in. I love working with children and really love math.
Although I have been self employed for the last 6 years, I went back to school last year to add Science and Math for middle school to my certification. I believe that all children and adults have the capability with learning any subject area, especially music. Music can control all emotions and enables children and adults to express themselves. I am neither an easy teacher nor a hard one because I have some kind of expectations for each student (depending on their level), which they always meet for me. I push my students to become the best they can be without putting too much stress in their practice time. What I love the most is seeing my students finally playing the piece that they thought was too hard for them at first.I do not expect my students to be perfectionist, but I expect them to practice and try as hard as they can.

I have been teaching music - guitar, piano, bass and music theory all of my life, but most recently contiguously for the last seven years. I have a BA in Sociology from Clemson University. I was always good in math, science and history in addition to social sciences and music.
