A Little Bit About Me...

The method of teaching I prefer is maieutic, i.e., one which draws knowledge from the student, rather than attempts to place it in him/her from without. To me, the process of asking questions and allowing the student's curiosity and intelligence to reach conclusions is far more effective than one-sided lecturing. I am endlessly creative, coming up with myriad examples to illustrate concepts.
In 2006 I taught graphic design topics at Westwood College. In 2007 I taught the same subject at The Creative Circus (roughly equivalent to an MBA program for designers, writers, photographers, and art directors). In 2008 I taught in the design department for Georgia State University. This summer I traveled to a remote region in India to teach English. My approach to instruction is to guide students to navigate the material to be studied by highlighting the subject areas that often cause trouble for students. With the introduction of each new topic, I make sure that such introduction is followed up with a detailed worked-out example as well as home-work assignments that are designed to reinforce through practice or elaborate on subtle points regarding the subject.
My work experience includes teaching physics courses in various colleges either as an adjunct or as a full-time faculty member for a cumulative period of approximately 9 years. I also worked as a research scientist at various universities/companies and have collaboratively published more than 22 research papers in international, refereed scientific journals.

Of course I love teaching specifically math of any level. My style is different; instead of teaching I coach my students. When I teach math, I don't simply use formulas and solve the problems; I try to teach how the formula is created and where to use it.
I have a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and about seven years of teaching experience in USA and in India. I can teach math for any level.
