Based on previous experience I have discovered that the same teaching style does not work for every child. I find that explaining each topic and asking the child question gives a clear indication of their understanding. Based on responses to the questions adjustments may be made to address each child's need.
As the daughter of educators, I have been exposed to the education system all my life. As a result of this exposure, I became very interested in tutoring and teaching. I taught for two years as a substitute teacher before attending law school. I previously worked as a substitute teacher with Morrow Elementary in North Lauderdale, Florida where I taught test-taking strategies for the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. I am a fun teacher and enjoy tricking students into learning. I have developed games, songs, and various devices which attract attention and result in learning, regardless of whether the student even notices. I have a knack for revising sentences or instructions to captivate attention which encourages the student to answer or start writing immediately. They become known for getting dependent on doing their homework with me, but eventually I cease being an enabler once the result of our efforts start producing better grades.

Family & friends have expressed to me that my open-mindedness & clever & creative nature allow me to have an almost sixth sense-like intuition. Through the NCLB program, I put this theory to the test, & to be perfectly honest, I feel as if I lived up to this supposed “inherent capacity” to touch & better the lives of underprivileged, neglected, inner-city youth. As an educational activist, I REALLY, REALLY try to get & know each child on an individual basis.
