A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the best way to get ideas across to students and to help them become tangible, is to engage as many of the senses as possible. I realize every student has unique necessities when it comes to understanding different subjects, but I have found that the best way to teach is to create curiosity about the topic being taught and to apply the learning to real life. I use diagrams and real life stories that engage the curiosity of the student. I am patient and meticulous when teaching and make sure the student understands a matter before moving on to something more advanced. Teaching is more than drilling facts, principles, and formulas into the students. It is also giving them the tools necessary to perform critical thinking and conduct research on their own.

I have always had an inclination to teach. To me, there is something very exciting about conveying understanding of a concept to another person. I think I have a particular ability for identifying precisely what aspect of a problem a student does not understand and then elucidating that point. I think much instructional time is spent inefficiently in explaining what a student already understands and not explaining what he or she does not understand.
