Younger students catch on very quickly to what it is I am teaching. If they don't catch on quick, then no problem. I'm very patient and never give up until a student understands the concept. I'm pretty laid back. I like my students to make effort and hope to add a little fun in there but for the most part I expect my students to learn at their own pace and it doesn't matter how fast they move but they have to make effort.
I have just earned my TESOL certification and am looking forward to beginning teaching English. I have spent a majority of my life teaching in one form or another. My elementary school, Hamen Elementary, had a program in which good students could tutor mentally challenged students. I did that for three years. A Little Bit About Me...

During my time as a tutor I've learned a variety of teaching styles. I've worked with kindergartners and employed an animated, high energy style to capture their attention and keep them motivated. For older students I use a type of Socratic method where instead of answering questions for them, I work with students by requiring them to answer questions so they can lead themselves to the right answer. I feel this method not only allows a student to develop confidence, it teaches them to rely on their own processes to develop answers.
