I have a love for teaching with younger children. I truly believe that every child can learn, whatever thier circumstance. I am very outgoing, loving, and cosiderate. My desire is to teach your child in such a way that they will be able to take with them as they are an adult. As a college student, I understand the importance of learning and experiencing new things daily. I am earning my BS in Business Administration and have gained an understanding in many areas of computer technology, arithmetic, English, and science. I am a graduate accounting student at NIU, emphasizing in the study of taxation. My undergraduate accounting degree is also from NIU. I am currently studying for the CPA exam. I have been a graduate assistant for a taxation course and a managerial accounting course. I have tutored business statistics and financial statement auditing. All of my previous formal teaching experience is at the undergraduate-level. I teach in a discussion style; A one-on-one lecture format. I have found that this, in concert with working examples, is a good way for students to learn. However, I understand that many people learn in different ways, and I am willing to accommodate.

I taught one semester of College Algebra at Illinois State University. I was responsible for 2 sections of lab while I completed graduate credits for a Master's in Mathematics. My B.S. in actuarial science (math) was attained from Bradley University. Also, I've been a youth minister at the local church for a year and half now and have formed a large group consisting of junior high and high school students. I love to put myself in the students' shoes. I have the ability to relate to the students on an individual level and they respect me. I always hope that no one is left behind just because they are afraid to ask questions. I believe in having fun while learning and in being honest with your students.

While earning my degrees, I was inducted into a honor society with emphasis on helping the engineering students in our department in several way. Our focus was working with companies for future jobs and offering free tutoring every week for all computer and electrical engineering courses that were junior level and below. For 3 years I was apart of the tutoring while juggling my course load which also included a great deal of mathematics. My degrees required all three levels of Calculus, but I also completed additional calculus classes beyond those requirements. My teaching style is very similar to how I was taught, lots of examples with guidance. I was never given the answer, but given all the tools to necessary to complete the task. My strengths are in teaching lower level math and statistics to students who don't "get" math. I have an easy-going, patient personality, and I firmly believe there is no such thing as a bad question. I am good at breaking math down to it's most basic level, and going through every step to ensure that you don't get lost. If a particular concept isn't making sense to you, I will try to find another (and another, and another...) way to explain it until it does make sense. I have reference information from previous students who can attest to my teaching methods, if you so desire.
