As a student, I was promoted from hostess to assistant controller of a restaurant within the period of one year and prior to graduation from the community college. I have over 20 years experience working in accounting and the last 12 of those years as the supervisor of the accounting department in roles titled accounting manager and controller. While in college, I have worked with numerous tutoring programs both paid and volunteering. I worked for two years as a tutor mentor for the Upward Bound Program, where I managed a group of 12 college students that tutored and mentored 75 low-income and first generation students in grades 9-12. Also while in college, I have have had the opportunity to work closely with numerous Metro Public Schools around the Nashville area. Currently I am working with the Martha O'Bryan Center at a Reading Achievement Program Tutor.
I believe that each child has its own learning style, therefore as a tutor you must be able to adapt quickly to the specific needs to every child.
