I have studied Spanish since 2001. I participated in an ISA Study Abroad program in Sevilla, Spain. I have worked for the past 7 years with native Spanish speakers as well as tutoring both middle school, high school, and college level students in Spanish. My comments on tutoring Spanish : Moderate proficiency in Spanish. This is my 3rd language.

I have been a teacher for 7 years. I have taught in a small-town private, Christian two-room schoolhouse (K-8); I currently substitute teach for OPS, and have been to all but one school in the district. I have also tutored on and off over the years, both individually and in small groups, both privately and through school district or companies. I enjoy working with students in a smaller setting, especially one or two at a time, and helping them understand concepts and thus succeed in their schoolwork.
The process is just as important as the product. If a student can come up with the correct answer, but he or she has no idea how or why it is correct or how they got it, I feel like their learning is incomplete. Spanish and English Tutor

I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BA in Spanish Translation and Interpretation and English. During my last two years, my Translation and Interpretation professor selected me to translate and interpret for the Buffalo County Diversion Program. Also during college, I tutored college students through the Center for Academic Success in Spanish and helped the students write and edit their paper (all disciplines). After graduating from college in 2007, I pursued my degree in education, and I have taught 7-12 English and Spanish for the past eight years. For some time, I have been in other student's lives influencing their skills learning experience. As a grade school student, I worked with elementary school teachers for a couple of years, helping children in lower grade levels with math and science. As a college graduate and a mentor at a behavioral health facility I have gained valuable knowledge and confidence in one on one guidance. I have a BA in psychology and a BFA in studio arts and I am currently pursuing a place as a PhD candidate in the educational psychology program at UNL. I am experienced in math, english, psychology, and studio art. Also, I volunteered for the Lincoln Initiative for Tutoring program where I tutored elementary students after school and served as a role model.
My teaching style is about positive feedback and patience. With my experience in psychology I have found that a calm nurturing environment lends itself to bolstering understanding for children.
