My comments on tutoring Spanish : Moderate proficiency in Spanish. This is my 3rd language.

The process is just as important as the product. If a student can come up with the correct answer, but he or she has no idea how or why it is correct or how they got it, I feel like their learning is incomplete. Especially in Math, but also in many other subjects, concepts build upon each other. For this reason, I like to explain not just *how* to get there, but also *why* we got that answer; then students have a firmer foundation for the trickier concepts. I love seeing the lightbulb "go on," when kids finally "get it."

Spanish is one of my top subjects! High School Spanish 1-3 and College Spanish 2-4

I don't really have a teaching style because I have never been an actual tutor before. But, I love helping people and I always helped my friends with homework, especially in math. I am not the kind of tutor who will just give you the answers, I like to make you think about the problem and come up with your own answer. If the answer is wrong, I will ask you to look again and see where you made mistakes and, if needed, I will point them out for you. I love the one-on-one part of teaching. Connecting with kiddos, seeing the light bulb turn on in their faces. One of the reasons I am no longer teaching is the special ed paperwork was getting to take up more time than the teaching was. Plus I now have 2 small children at home. I really miss the one-on-one part of teaching. I know there is more than 1 way to teach every concept in math! Showing a kid this, is very important! Also showing them that it's okay to be scared!
