A Little Bit About Me...

As an honors graduate of Ohio Valley University, I acquired the skills and training necessary to effectively teach elementary age children as well as math students of all ages. I've been known to make generalized lesson plans and improvise as I go, because every class is different, and too strict of a plan is destructive and boring for the students. Having grown up with a brother with a learning dissability, I was inspired to persue a degree in which I could assist people be successful and realize their potential. I have worked with AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) as well. I have worked with students either one on one or via the whole class to improve reading, writing, and test-taking skills. I am also pursuing a certificate in Social Studies, as I have a degree in Political Science.
I try to make things as fun as possible, and I try to help the student understand by putting the subject in a way that suits their interests. I like to joke around with the students, because it puts them at ease, and it develops a relationship with them that is hard to come by.
