I love to bring history to live for students so I like to explain events in a story format. It is important for students to memorize facts, however, so I focus on memorization techniques and organization. Reading requires comprehension so I use a combination of techniques including reading out loud and repetitive reading. I believe that while students may forget specifics of what they are learning, they will never forget how teachers make them feel. I also belive that the best teachers are the ones that make themselves less needed the longer they teach specific studdents. I have twelve years experience teaching students from 2nd to 5th grade. My first six years were spent teaching 2nd grade at Caroline Brevard and Florida State University Schools. Then, I taught Math to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade for one year at FSU Schools using the Project CHILD method which involved many hands on centers with whole group and small group instruction.
