Accounting is one of my top subjects! I am an Accounting student at FGCU who will be entering the master's program in the Fall of 2013. I currently hold a 3.95 GPA and am tutoring Intermediate 3 accounting, Accounting Information Systems and Managerial Accounting. I love teaching and helping my fellow students understand the concepts from a real world perspective. I explain that accounting is just another language you have to learn and understand. I am a creative person and bring life to the topic with my own notes and the occasional poster board example. I also hold a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in English that I received in 2004. I hope to enter a PhD program in Florida and eventually become an Accounting professor.

I am a creative person and love to bring that creativity into the tutoring session. I create my own notes to explain the textbook concepts and my own problems that are similar to what the student will be tested on. I like to use index cards, poster board, and whatever else will help bring the concepts to life for the student. My explanations change depending on what life experience the student has. A person who has been in the business community for twenty years will have a different perspective than a nineteen year old who has never worked. The purpose of tutoring is to use what the student knows to help explain the concepts.

I use the basic visual and auditory but the vast majority I use is "Learn by Doing". A hands on approach by the student creates a much higher retention rate in my experience.

I believe that students of all levels learn from auditory, visual and hands on experience. Each has their own preference and more often than not, uses at least two types of this knowledge. Allowing students the access of these skills will only increase their ability to thrive. Each student will perform according to their own capability using all of these skills. While living in Japan, I taught English to the Japanese nationals and was a teacher's aide in the Department of Defense Dependent's Schools in the special needs department. I worked directly with middle school children who had ADD, ADHD as well as other physical handicaps including Cerebral Palsy.
