I enjoy discovering student's learning styles and connecting with them where they are. I encourage problem solving, accountability, goal setting, as well as setting rewards when they have achieved their goals or for effort. I am a special education teacher with 6 credit hours to go until I have earned my Master in Adaptive Special Education. I student taught 5th grade, was a middle school special education para for the remainder of that school year once I earned my Bachelor's then transitioned into 2-4th grade adaptive Math, and all Language Arts. I enjoy using visuals and technology to reach students, keep them engaged, motivated, and enrich their learning. I enjoy teaching about social studies, history, art, and other subjects that I believe create a better rounded student.

I have the ability to diagnose learning weaknesses in a student, effectively plan a course to re mediate the student's learning weakness, implement a set of steps to assist the student to take the weakness and turn it to a strength building upon already mastered skills, and evaluate the success of the student's efforts and move on or re-teach based upon the student's needs. I have the ability to motivate learners so that they have fun accomplishing the goals set before them. But I am at the same time very task orientated and use a lot of behavior modification techniques in my approach. I really like math and sharing it with others. While working at Breakthrough as an Educator Coordinator for 2 years, I performed the following: Worked with 75+ clients aged 16 and older in the Education program for adult students with a mental illness,tutored high school math, algebra and geometry, and tutored grammar to a client learning ESL. In June 2008, successfully completed 9 hours of tutor training taught through Goodwill Adult Literacy program. I also Assisted a 23 year old client in obtaining his high school diploma through the online Project Encore program by helping him succeed in passing high school algebra and attended the client’s high school graduation.
