Experience Summary
After graduation from college, I entered the Peace Corps and moved to the country of the Federated States of Micronesia. I have lived in that area of the world for most of my teaching career.
I have taught for over twenty years gaining experience on almost every level of the educational ladder. I have taught K-5th grade. I have taught in middle school programs and I have taught in high school programs. I have taught in regular classroom programs and in special education programs.
I have experience tutoring having worked in Saturday Extended Day programs for at risk learners for two years. I also did tutoring on my own for several years with adult learners and young children.
Teaching Style
I enjoy watching learners succeed. I have the ability to diagnose learning weaknesses in a student, effectively plan a course to re mediate the student's learning weakness, implement a set of steps to assist the student to take the weakness and turn it to a strength building upon already mastered skills, and evaluate the success of the student's efforts and move on or re-teach based upon the student's needs. I have the ability to motivate learners so that they have fun accomplishing the goals set before them. But I am at the same time very task orientated and use a lot of behavior modification techniques in my approach.
