Chess is one of my top subjects!

I'm an experienced chess player that has been teaching children chess for about a year now. I work part time for Kid Chess, a company that provides chess lessons to Elementary Schools across Georgia. With them I have prepared many lessons for groups and have given individual instruction to children too. My experience with Kid Chess has taught me how to instruct children in the basics of the game, and my time there has shown me how to give lessons to more experienced students too. Although I mainly teach children, I am more than comfortable teaching adults and teenagers too. Anyone who whises to learn chess from zero, or any beginner who wants to improve is welcome.

My comments on tutoring Chess : I have been playing chess since my childhood and I am good at it. During my college, I was a finalist in a chess tournament that was conducted on Hogwarts day. I played on the quad with students as chess pieces dressed in corresponding ones. I won all the qualifying games and lost against my Mathematics professor in championship. In my college, it is a glory for my friends to win against me. I play random and strategic. My random play is such that the opponent cannot predict my moves. If the opponent is playing with strategy, I deploy my defense strategy as well as offense. My favorite piece in chess is knight.

I involve students a lot during the learning period. I consistently ask them questions about the topic and let them think for a while. I give them as much information as possible so that they do not miss any information while solving problems. I make students write. That is how they learn. I consistently give students concepts and them demonstrate with sample questions.
Holding a Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics, I have knowledge of both Mathematics and its application to Economics as well as other real world situations. My comments on tutoring Chess : I was taught chess at age four and have been playing ever since. I played throughout school but I have never competed outside of a school setting.

I like to formulate individual teaching styles based on my students. Not everyone learns the same and therefore I do not teach the same to each student. Sometimes students require my constant attention and encouragement. Other times taking a step back and explaining everything in depth and watching the student work is the best approach. No two students are alike therefore my teaching style is different for each student.
I have just finished law school. I grew up in Brazil as well as the United States which allowed me to become fluent in Portuguese as well as English without any accent. Learning never ceases; so, why should you?

My teaching style is a mixture of strict and lenient. I try to form a connection with students and apply that to my teaching method (i.e. incorporating a similar hobby in a question in order for the student to understand the material better). I expect my students to give me and the other students respect- never speaking while others are speaking, no disruptions, ect. This method of teaching has shown effective and a fun learning environment. I base my curriculum around the importance of reading. My first experience as a tutor happened my second year in college. She was an elementary student with behavioral problems. After four sessions, I resigned from that position.
