I am a teacher who has learned through experience. I went from college to Kenya to teach in an international school for 2 years. I learned a lot about teaching and culture during that time. When I returned I subbed for 2.5 years in which I learned more than all my schooling. During that time I earned a master's and have gone on to move in the direction that jobs have come.I taught SPED for a year, taught at an Outdoor School for a year, taught Kindergarten at a private school and worked with Autistic children as a one on one tutor. Knowledge and skills are most permanent when we discover and create for ourselves, so I like to be a guide that leads the student to their own conclusions, rather than take over and lecture. I will be there to direct and support the student; I like when the student works at the board or on the paper instead of me, so that they retain what is being taught. A Little Bit About Me...

I currently have my California substitute teaching credential. I have worked previously for Placed County Office of Education and Yuba County Office of Education, substitute teaching. I currently work for Paradise Oaks Youth Services as a residential counselor, specifically on the 7 to 3 shift, tutoring the kids to help them complete their individual school program. At Paradise Oaks Youth services I work with emotionally disturbed teenage boys, but as a substitute teacher, I worked K12 and special education. A Little Bit About Me...

I know that each child is different and ultimately learn in their own individual way. I try and adapt by using different tactics such as visual demonstrations and mental problem solving. I strive to help each student grasp and fully understand the different material.
I enjoy teaching and helping children; after I graduated from Chico State I started my teaching career at Grace Christian Academy teaching sixth grade. I have been substituting for the last 10 years at different K-12 schools in the area. I have spent my spare time coaching baseball and football at both East Nicolaus and Wheatland High School.
