My experience includes paid help to friends throughout high school, mostly in physics, math, and Spanish. I often would work for 2-3 hours with someone once a week. It was always casual and mostly during my junior and senior years of high school. I am in college now and have not had a chance to get involved with tutoring here.

I received my degree in Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and have gathered a vast understanding of teaching methods as a tutor during my time there. It takes a radical approach to learning if one really wishes to speak a foreign language with fluency, and I have worked towards perfecting my methodology to achieve this for my clients. Audio, oral, and immersion techniques are my preferred method of teaching. I have lived in Mexico and Costa Rica after studying Spanish throughout high school and college. I have tutored on and off for the past 12 years. I have tutored people from 5th grade to age 50. I love teaching in a hands on style in which the student not only has an algorithm of how to solve a specific problem, but has a thorough understanding of the concepts behind the algorithm. I enjoy having analogies or hands-on activities to demonstrate the concepts. I believe that many times people understand the basic concepts from physics in their daily life, but are frightened by equations. I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way. Since this is my area of expertise, I am able to come up with examples on the fly that will target the areas most troublesome to the student. Mathematics is a field that requires repetition but making that repetition as interesting as possible is a fun challenge.
