Highly motivated, educated, and interested teacher will help

I have been teaching for over 17 years. Being very versatile, I have taught English, Ancient History, Medieval History, Computers, Art, and preschool. I started out teaching preschool and loved it. Then I went to a private Christian school (teaching completely for volunteer pay). From there, I decided that I love to help people learn. I went back to school. Students still will recognize me and I know that I made a difference in their life. It is a great reward to know that at that point in their life, I was supposed to be there.
I believe in individual learning styles and matching the teaching technique to the learning style. We all have strengths and weaknesses. It is important to learn how to capitalize on the strengths and build up the weakness.

I enjoy what I do. I love seeing students achieve their goals. The first thing I have always told my students was that there isn't anything you can't do if you want it bad enough. I went back to school at the age of 41 to get my degree. My goal is to provide the student with the best possible education, tempered with understanding and compassion. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, I tutored in a math lab during the summer of my college years and later went into the Peace Corps in Zimbabwe to teach math and science to high school level students. I have also worked as a civil engineer and have directly applied my civil engineering degree in designing grading and utility plans for commercial developments. As a female working in a male dominated field I feel strongly about supporting young girls in pursing their dreams just as equally as young boys. I followed this interest by tutoring at the university writing lab, as well as doing frequent one-on-one tutor sessions with students in need.
