My teaching philosophy is to provide a safe and welcoming learning environment for my students, in which they feel equal and confident as learners. Creating a positive learning environment begins with building a strong rapport with students and coworkers. Another aspect of building a strong classroom community is motivation. As a teacher, my goal is to help student build strong self-efficacy so that they feel inclined to work hard and develop an inner sense of motivation. During my undergraduate education I was very dedicated in pursuing my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and completed a variety of experiences working with students. I believe the best way to learn is peer-to-peer learning. As an auto-didact I have the study skills necessary to regurgitate information as taught by the current institutional models. This is an uncreative and highly unnatural way to learn. There's a reason no major discovery was made in a classroom -- true innovation, discovery and learning is an organic process. I've been a special education teacher and held positions in resource and in self-contained rooms. I've taught students with learning problems in reading, math, and writing.
