I have a variety of experience in multiple disciplines within natural science and am currently a Geology MSc candidate at the University of New Brunswick and will be defending my thesis in Summer of 2010. For the past two years I have had a large exposure to both field and lab work surrounding Fe-Mn Deposits and worked as a teaching assistant. Since November of 2008, I have authored five published abstracts and extended abstracts for both Canadian and American conferences and served as a technical program editor for the International Applied Geochemistry Symposium in 2009. I am also currently working on two full length publications on stratigraphy and geochemistry of my MSc. project. All of my teaching experience in chemistry comes from my teaching General Chemistry Labs while pursuing Graduate Studies. This experience relates to my issuing pre-lab lectures prior to lab starting and this basically was designed to summarize the lab and work through example problems or demonstrations. My teaching style is structured with my following a pre-determined outlined agenda which ordinarily would have an area designated for issues that the students wish to raise. Working with people, particularly children, has always been a passion of mine. Through the psychology program at Husson College I was able to gain a better understanding of human interaction, interpersonal relationships, as well as to obtain further insight on the foundation of the cognitive wiring in which we all possess. I also have a 6 year old daughter, who I have found to be the key to my drive in watching all children achieve academic success. I think the process starts with parents but branches out into the world of educators, and truly is a battle that can be won as long as there is always a core group of people committed to each child's success in the classroom. As a current graduate student I have had the opportunity to learn a great deal about the effective techniques and skills it takes for one to succeed within the classroom. I have found that children like me and will listen to what I have to say. I try and teach the best way possible according to each child's needs. I am patient and will take as much time that is needed to teach your child. To me time is of no importance compared to children's need to learn. I have experience as an instructor while in the Marine Corps, and during that time I have found that I am really suited to teaching. The idea of giving new knowledge to people of all ages is an exciting one. I have done some substitute teaching at Athens Elementary School. I have found that I get along well with children and that they like me.
