I do private one on one tutoring where the child will have a greater opportunity to learnt he material I work at the Boys and Girls Club where I am the poetry teacher. I haver also been tutoring for 5 years and I am great with kids. I tutor in many subjects but my strongest subject is English and Literature. I also tutor any grade level. I taught grades kindergarten, first grade and second grade for a total of twenty-six years. Since then, I have tutored pre-k through 5th grade. My last assignment was tutoring a fifth grader in writing composition. I have worked as a tutor with several children on their reading, spelling and math skills. I worked as a UIL coach for creative writers in second grade. To teach reading, I teach the children to use all the reading strategies used by good readers.Examples of those strategies would be sight words, visual and context clues, and phonics. Then, I prefer to use leveled readers to improve their fluency and comprehension. For writing, after assessing their composition, I work with them to improve where needed skills such as organization, elaboration, complex sentences and transitions. I've always had strong writing skills. I've written several scientific dissertations and papers to fairly high praise. I always liked playing up my quirky personality. My favorite teachers and professors were the goofy ones, the ones who can relate to the students' fun side. These teachers also challenged me the most, and I ended up getting so much more out of the course.
